The Asbury Casavant Pipe Organ Undergoes Restoration
If you like, the web page for Casavant Organ Company is amazingly interesting. You may enjoy looking at their work at http://www.casavant.ca/; and in addition, there is a very good web site containing the history of the Casavant Brothers found at
http://www.casavant.ca/new_temp/anglais/History/history1.html. The Organ Fundraising Committee have designed and implemented an excellent fundraising campaign entitled, "Preserving Our Musical Heritage." The Fundraising Committee consists of Cynthia Cowall, Sharon Dashiell, Nadine Jackson, Betti Messick, Linda King, and Pam Ollinger, with Nancy Rubenson acting as the Fundraising Consultant. As of August 5, 2009, $385,000 has been raised or donated leaving $100,000 to complete this project. The organ was removed right after Easter and is presently in the factories of Casavant Organ Company in St. Hycinthe, Quebec; and David Storey Organs, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland. The instrument is in very good hands, presently being totally rebuilt with the promise that the organ will be playing again on Thanksgiving Sunday. We are very close to completing this project financially, any amount of donation is very welcomed and very needed. Simply mark your donation towards the Organ Renovation.
