The Asbury Chancel Choir
Here and Now, 2011-2012
The present Asbury Chancel Choir is a collegiate level chorale, of approximately 40 members, under the auspices of Asbury United Methodist Church, whose repertoire focuses primarily on the broad expanse of Sacred Classical Music. This season the choir will focus their repertoire on three major works, the Requiem of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, on All Saint's Sunday, November 6; Amahl and the Night Visitors, by Gian Carolo Menotti on January 15; and, the Gloria, by Antonio Vivaldi, on Transfiguration Sunday, February 19, 2012.

Significant events for the 2011-12 season will be:
 Choir resumes with rehearsals, Thursday, September 8; and, in worship on Sunday, September 11 at the 11:00 AM time. - The Requiem of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with Bill Folger conducting, Robert Young at the organ, and Chris Reavis, Tympani. Sunday, October 31, 11:00 AM worship time.
- A Candlelight Lessons and Carols, Asbury's famous Lessons and Carols, Sunday evening, December 18, at 7:00 PM.
- Christmas Eve with the Asbury Chancel Choir, Revelation Ringers, soloists, and Robert Young at the Organ, Saturday evening, December 24, 10:30 PM Candlelight Worship.
- The Annual Christmas/New Years Party, Thursday, January 5.
- Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti, on Sunday, January 15 at both 8:45 and 11:00 AM worship times. Josh Harman, Amahl; Heather Harman, Mother; Bill Clendenen, Jim Andrews and Don McCabe, Kings.
- Gloria, by Antonio Vivaldi, with Orchestra, Transfiguration Sunday, February 19, at the 11:00 a.m. worship hour, Robert Young, Conducting.
- WSCL Celebration of Music Concert in June 2, 7:30 PM.
- The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, from 7:15 to 9:00 PM, beginning September 8 through May. Sunday, September 11 is the first Sunday in the 2011/12 Season the choir sings. They have a 10:30 Sunday morning warm-up in the choir room, and begin the procession at 11:00 AM for that service of worship.
