Asbury Steinway Grand Undergoes Restoration

We are very pleased to announce that The Steinway Concert Grand, built in 1968, and given by Mr. & Mrs. W. Newton Jackson, Sr., has been restored, and returned to its home in the chancel/worship center of Asbury Church this past April, 2007.

This work involved the playing actions which included new hammers, hammer shanks and flanges, back checks, keypins on balance and front rails, key bushings, refelting of the front rail punchings, balance rail punchings and back rail cloth, repetitions, refelt damper heads, and underlever dampers. Key level and dip regulated, hammers spaced to strings, reweight and setting of touch, hammer blow distance, let-off, drop regulation, and tonal voicing were also included in this restoration process.
