We are the Asbury Praise Band and extremely proud of our ministry in this place and time with the "Come As You Are" congregation that worships with us in Fellowship Hall every Sunday morn-ing, at 8:45 AM.
Our style is casual, upbeat, and intimately spiritual. The Praise Band was organized in August of 2003 with much help from Brian Hildreth, Robert Young, and the Music Leadership Team with the appointment of Mick & Alison Hansler as co-directors, and $5,000.00 worth of instruments and sound equipment to get started. Mick & Alison began Asbury's first praise band and got us on our feet with the more current compositions and style. Under their leadership the group grew to about 8-10. Their style was a more electric and Celtic sound, supporting a solo worship leader.
Brian Hildreth assumed leadership for the band in January of 2006, and under his direction the group grew quite a bit with a style leaning more towards a folk ensemble. They added a couple more singers, two more guitar players, a keyboard player, and electric bass. In September 2006 Robert Young came on board as our musical director continuing our positive movement as an ensemble. In the fall of 2009 the Band continues it's ministry under the leadership of co-directors, Brian Hildreth and Kris Stuber. At present we are 6 singers, percussion, bass, three guitars, and Jim Belestri, the best sound tech guy on this side of the Shore. The sound is good and we enjoy praising God every Sunday with our skills and abilities. God is good to us.
If you would enjoy connecting with us in any way... to help support our ministry, or the possibility of becoming a member of the band, etc., please feel free to say hello after worship, or you are more than welcome to call the church office and speak with Robert Young or connect with him at robert@asburyweb.org; or you are also more than welcome to connect with Brian Hildreth at hildreth5@comcast.net. God bless.
