RMD & QCD Presentation

Sign Up to Learn More about Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) from your retirement funds.

The Asbury UMC Finance Committee will be hosting Kimberly Magaha from Wealthspire Advisors on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 4pm in the Mackey Room. 

If you are 70 ½ or older and have an IRA, especially for any Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) you need to make, and you might be eligible to take advantage of this program, reduce your tax liability, meet any RMD requirements you have, and benefit the church at the same time!

New Members Class

Are you interested in becoming a member at Asbury?

This fall, Pastor Chelsea will host a class for those interested in exploring membership.
Class will meet on Sunday, November 16, from 12:15-2:15pm in the Library.

Lunch will be provided, and childcare will be available upon request.

Members will then join Asbury in the November 23 worship service.

Pollinator Garden Clean-Up

A Volunteer Opportunity from the Church and Society Committee

The second Pollinator Clean-Up this fall will be held on Saturday, November 22 from 9-12, weather permitting

Gloves and tools available or you may bring your own.

Coffee, water, and donuts will be provided!

No skill needed! 

Instructions will be provided, school age, youth, adults and seniors all welcome. 

Come and help us care for God's creation.  Arrive when you can, stay as long as you can.

Christmas Eve at Asbury includes 3 services:

  • 4pm Family Friendly Service in the Sanctuary

    • A convenient time for families

    • Melody Makers, Cherub Choir, and Kingdom Kids will be sharing their music

    • Enjoy a retelling of the nativity

  • 7pm CAYR Christmas

    • formatted like our informal Come As You Are service

    • Come to a Christmas Eve service in your Christmas Pajamas if you’d like (come as you are for real!)

  • 10pm Lessons & Carols

    • Like the title suggests, full of lessons and carols

    • See the Sanctuary in the beauty of night and candlelight

All services include Communion and ‘Silent Night’ by Candlelight

Trunk-or-Treat

The Asbury Parking lot facing Rt. 13 will have some fun cars with trunks full of treats!
Volunteers decorate their trunks and hand out candy as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating.

Bishop Easterling Visiting

Bishop Easterling will be visiting each district in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference this fall to meet with clergy and laity for a time of sharing, listening, and connection. As we begin a new appointment year and build new relationships, these gatherings will be vital moments of unity and vision.

Salisbury is part of the Lower Shore District within the Pen-Del Conference

Acolyte & Crucifer Training

Youth in grades 6 through 12 play an important role in our Festive Service in the Sanctuary.

Middle School students are acolytes tasked with lighting the candles early on in worship, helping with offering, and extinguishing some of the candles at the end of the service.

High School students are crucifers tasked with carrying the cross in and out of the Sanctuary as well as helping with offering and Communion.

In order to do so, you need to go through training first!

The next training is Sunday, September 28th from 12pm to 12:30pm.

Be sure to attend this training if you missed the last one and wish to acolyte/crucifer! Thank you!

Asbury UMC’s circle groups will again host a fall dinner inviting other churches to join us.
We will provide a pot-luck dinner.

The speaker this year is Debbie Donoway, director of Salisbury Urban Ministries. Debbie will present an overview of SUM and how we can help support this agency that provides vital services to the Salisbury Community.

All Asbury women are invited and we encourage you to bring a friend. It is a fun night of good food and fellowship!

UWIF - Spiritual Growth Retreat

United Women in Faith (UWIF) is hosting a spiritual growth retreat!

This retreat is open to all women - even if you are not part of UWIF.

We will gather at Simpson United Methodist Church at 907 Centerville Road in Wilmington, DE from 9:00am until 3:00pm.

The theme of this retreat is EXTRAORDINARY FAITH. You won't want to miss this event hosted by the Delaware District United Women in Faith!

Fall Kick-Off

It’s Fall Kick-off at Asbury UMC!

What does that mean?

It means we’re back to our ‘school year’ Schedule with 3 worship services and the return of the 10am Sunday School hour for all ages!

Worship Services include:

  • 8am - Early Morning Asbury (EMA); a reflective service in the Sanctuary

  • 8:45am - Come As You Are (CAYR); an informal service in the Fellowship Hall

  • 11am - Festive; a formal service in the Sanctuary

This worship schedule occurs September through May.

Puppets for Christ - Orientation

If you are:

  • going into grade 6 or above

  • interested in learning more about Puppets for Christ

then this Orientation is for YOU!

Meet in the Mackey Room at 7pm. At least one parent must attend with their youth.

You’ve always wanted to be a puppeteer, so what are you waiting for?

Acolyte & Crucifer Training

Youth in grades 6-8 qualify to be an Acolyte.

Youth in grades 9-12 qualify to be a Crucifer.

Acolytes and Crucifers play an important role in the 11am Festive service each Sunday during our service schedule Sept.-May.

The roles have changed a bit, so it is recommended that all youth take - or re-take - training with Ms.Suzy!
