Suzy Creel

Director of Youth and Family Ministries

Hi everyone, my name is Suzy Creel.  I have been involved with Asbury for over ten years. I spent the last 12 years in food service in Wicomico County Schools, my last school being Bennett Middle School.  It is my honor to be the new Director of Youth and Families. Most of you know my son, Paden, who is now a senior at James M Bennett high.  My older son, Xavier, graduated from Salisbury University in May with a bio degree, and is moving into his first house with his girlfriend Laura in September.  We have a flat coated retriever named Matilda who is definitely a spoiled princess!  My mom, Jan, can often be seen with my family at the CAYR service.  My husband, Rob, and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in September. As we all feel, I am sure, I have no idea where the time went.

I love my indoor plants, and my many outdoor spaces.  In my free time, I enjoy gardening, listening to music, playing video games, and watching TV crime series.  Pecometh is my favorite place to be when I am not at home or work.  Paden and I often drive over there for the day to sit by the water. I am the Missions Coordinator for UWIF, I am in the Eve Circle and I have taught Sunday School for a long time.

Asbury is home for Paden and I.  We have both grown up here and I thank you for your warm welcome when I started my job and I thank you all for helping Paden grow into the young man he has become.  Many Blessings!

Our Mission

Here at Asbury, we provide all youth the opportunity to form a personal relationship with God by offering programs designed to support their spiritual journey, personal growth, and care for their community. We help them look for ways to connect the scripture readings to their everyday lives. This  helps them to love their neighbor like Jesus taught, which offers  the opportunity for their faith and works to bring God’s kingdom to earth.

Safe Sanctuary

Safe Sanctuary is a movement in the United Methodist Church to ensure that all children/youth/vulnerable adults and the adults who care for them and work with them are safe.

This program has been in effect at Asbury since December 31, 2009. The guidelines follow the suggestions found in the resource “Safe Sanctuaries for Youth: Reducing the Risk of Abuse in Youth Ministries” by attorney Joy Thornburg Melton. This resource is used by The United Methodist Church in its Safe Sanctuaries training.
