Rev. Chelsea Spyres

Senior Pastor

Pastor Chelsea was ordained in June 2025 as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. She enjoys creating spaces of worship and creativity in and outside the local church, bringing people together for community support and transformation.

Chelsea holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Delaware and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. She has served as a case manager with individuals experiencing homelessness in Detroit, MI, Director of Christian Formation at St. Matthew's UMC in Bowie, MD, and Director of Outreach at Grace UMC in Wilmington, DE.

Most recently, Chelsea served as Pastor & Executive Director at Riverfront Ministries, a new church start that meets outdoors and in community spaces throughout Wilmington, DE. During her time at Riverfront, Chelsea launched the Wilmington Kitchen Collective, a shared kitchen space for culinary entrepreneurs. By the time she moved, the WKC had expanded to 4 locations and supported 38 culinary entrepreneurs.

Chelsea loves hiking, live music, and having people over for dinner. She loves living close to the water, going for walks in downtown Salisbury, and buying from local farm stands.

Suzy Creel

Director of Youth & Family Ministries

Hi everyone! My name is Suzy Creel, and I have been part of the Asbury family for more than ten years. After spending 12 years working in food service for Wicomico County Public Schools, with my last stop being Bennett Middle School, I was blessed with the opportunity to become Asbury’s Director of Youth and Families. What started as a new adventure has truly become one of the greatest joys of my life.

Many of you know my son, Paden, who has grown up here at Asbury and is heading to Salisbury University, graduating in 2030 with a Physical Education degree. My older son, Xavier, graduated from Salisbury University in 2025 with a degree in biology and is now working at The Marshall's Farm. Needless to say, watching both of my boys grow up has been one of my greatest adventures—and I have absolutely no idea where the time went!

When I’m not at church or working, I love spending time with my indoor plants and all of my outdoor spaces. Gardening, listening to music, playing video games, and watching TV crime series are some of my favorite ways to unwind.

I am incredibly grateful for the love and support this congregation has shown me over the years. When I stepped into my role as Director of Youth and Families, you welcomed me with open arms. Thank you for being part of our lives, for supporting my family, and for continuing to make Asbury the special place that it is.

Heather Harman

Director of Children & Care Ministries

Heather began her Asbury journey in 2003 as a preschool and Music teacher at Asbury Child Development Center. Her background in Music and Education and compassion for her church family naturally led to her current role as the Director of Children and Care Ministries in 2013. Heather enjoys working side by side with Children’s Ministry and Care volunteers to be the heart and hands of Jesus. She and her husband Jeff have two adult children, Megan (Serge) and Josh, a precious grandson, Jackson, and a houseful of spoiled pets.

Casey Taylor

My name is Casey Taylor and I live in Delmar, MD with my husband Scott and three children Riley, Blake and Colby. I graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education/Outdoor Education. I taught Kindergarten at a local private school for over 6 years. Before working as the Director of Asbury Child Development Center, I was the director of a child development center on the Western Shore. I enjoy spending time with my family at the beach, boating, fishing/crabbing, and skiing.
